Transcribe Bentham is a collaborative project contributed to by largely anonymous Internet volunteers who write without pay. Anyone with Internet access can write and make changes to the Transcribe Bentham Transcription Desk (except in certain cases where editing is restricted to prevent disruption and/or vandalism).

Please note that all contributions to Transcribe Bentham Transcription Desk may be edited, altered, or removed by other contributors. If you do not want your writing to be edited mercilessly, then do not submit it. You are also promising us that you wrote this yourself, or copied it from a public domain or similar free resource. Do not submit copyrighted work without permission.

Several mechanisms are in place to help transcribers carry out the important work of crafting a high-quality resource while maintaining civility. The administrators can temporarily or permanently ban users who fail to work with others in a civil manner. Transcribers should always endeavour to treat each other with consideration and respect. Transcribers should behave politely, calmly and reasonably, in order to keep the focus on improving the resource and to help maintain a pleasant editing environment. Please do not use the site to advertise for commercial purposes.

Transcribe Bentham is an Open Access initiative. For the purpose of UK Legislation, copyright for all materials within this project, including transcriptions, resides with UCL (University College London).
